Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a non-invasive and non-surgical method of treating hair loss in both men and women. The procedure of this therapy involves extracting your blood and putting it in a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma containing platelets from the blood. The platelets contain growth factors that heal and regenerate tissues. The plasma is then injected on your scalp or massaged after a derma-roller treatment is performed on the affected areas.

The advantages of PRP include:

  • It is a non-surgical, simple procedure
  • Cost effective
  • The procedure is short, lasting no longer than 90 minutes
  • Reliable and safe results
  • Fast recovery
  • The end result is natural looking

Eligibility For PRP-

People suffering from male pattern baldness and thinning hair can opt for PRP therapy. However, if you have lost all your hair, you cannot undergo PRP. This therapy can only thicken the currently thinning hair by making the hair follicles stronger; remember that it cannot produce new hair.

Expected Outcomes-

PRP requires multiple sittings, but you will notice hair growing from approximately the fourth sitting onwards. As mentioned, it strengthens weak hair follicles and boosts hair growth. The PRP procedure is safe and has no side effects. You might feel uncomfortable, or even scared, since the procedure involves needles and drawing blood, but before starting the procedure, a numbing cream will be used to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
